1st Team Progress in Cups

Just a quick mention to say well done to the 1st team who have made the 2nd div cup final vs Alumni and also for making the semi of senior shield which will be against St Mary's of div 4.

2nd Team Lose against South Mersey and St Bens

The game against South Mersey was a massive disappointment where we let ourselves down badly in the 2nd half - finally losing 6-2

The double header against St Bens this week was a much better team performance but we just couldn't find that goal to make things easier for ourselves in both games and we eventually lost 1-0 in both, when really we deserved something from at least the 2nd game. We need to keep going though as promotion is not neccessarily out of reach quite yet!

1st Team Through to Semi Final of Senior Shield!

Cardinal Newman 1 - Oaks Institute

A gritty performance from the 1st's saw them progress to the last 4 of the Senior Shield - a good achievement boys - well done!
To be fair though - not the greatest performance but a gritty display against a team who preferred to kick us rather than the ball. Oaks were down to 10 before half time thanks to shall we say 2 missed time tackles, a little bit of niggle continued in the 2nd half after Steve Devine scored from about 2inches from a corner. This led to another Oaks player and Kev getting sent off - although by the looks of it Kev was punished purely 4 ducking a punch!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway can't help but mention that 4 2nd teamers were involved and obviously proved the difference!

Another 2nd team game called off - this time thanks to our mates in the 1st team - who are stealing our pitch 4 the senior shield game vs Oaks Institute! I'll be going down so would be good if any other 2nd teamers can get down to support the 1st's in this CLUB competition
